Skin Guide by P-11

"Skin thrives on consistency, not complication." That's the belief that P-11 was built on — and it's the belief that runs through every product in our range and every piece of advice in this guide.

Good skincare doesn't have to be complicated. But it does need to be right for your skin. The difference between a routine that transforms your complexion and one that does nothing — or makes things worse — almost always comes down to two things: understanding your skin type, and choosing products with the right ingredients for it.

This guide covers both. We'll walk you through identifying your skin type, building a simple morning and evening routine, and finding the right P-11 products for your specific concerns. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine a routine that isn't quite working, this is your complete reference.

Know Your Skin Type — Everything Starts Here

Before you buy a single product, you need to understand what kind of skin you have. Using the wrong formulas for your skin type — even high-quality ones — is one of the most common reasons a skincare routine stops working. Take a few minutes to identify which category you fall into, and the rest becomes much easier.

D

Dry Skin

Feels tight, especially after cleansing. Fine lines are more visible. Skin can appear dull or flaky, particularly around the nose and cheeks. May feel rough to the touch.

P-11 priority: Deep hydration + barrier repair
O

Oily Skin

Shiny appearance, particularly in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). Pores appear enlarged. Prone to breakouts and blackheads. Makeup tends not to last the full day.

P-11 priority: Balance + clarify + lightweight moisture
C

Combination Skin

Oily in the T-zone, dry or normal on the cheeks. The most common skin type. Requires products that balance without over-stripping or over-moisturising.

P-11 priority: Balance across zones
S

Sensitive Skin

Reacts easily to products and environmental changes. Prone to redness, irritation, itching or stinging. The barrier is often compromised or thin.

P-11 priority: Barrier support + calm + gentle actives
N

Normal Skin

Well-balanced, comfortable, minimal reactivity. Not particularly oily or dry. Pores are small and skin tone is relatively even. The easiest type to care for.

P-11 priority: Maintain + protect + prevent
M

Mature / Ageing Skin

Fine lines, loss of firmness, uneven tone, or hyperpigmentation. Skin may be drier than in earlier years. Collagen production slows from the mid-twenties onwards.

P-11 priority: Peptides + retinol alternatives + moisture

Not sure which type you are? Try the blotting paper test: press a piece of tissue to different areas of your face in the morning before washing. Oily patches indicate oily or combination skin. No transfer at all, along with tightness, points to dry skin. If in doubt, treat your skin as sensitive — it's the gentlest starting point and the hardest to cause problems with.

The Morning Routine — Protect, Brighten, Defend

Your morning routine has one core job: prepare your skin to face the day. That means protecting the barrier, delivering hydration, and defending against UV damage and environmental stressors. Keep it simple. A five-minute routine you actually do every day outperforms a fifteen-minute one you skip.

Morning Routine — 4 Steps

01

Cleanse — gently

In the morning, your skin doesn't need a deep cleanse — it needs a gentle refresh. Use a low-foaming or oil-based cleanser that removes overnight products and sebum without stripping the skin's natural moisture barrier. Avoid anything harsh or fragrance-heavy first thing.

02

Booster / Treatment serum

This is where you address your specific concern — dullness, puffiness, pigmentation, or antioxidant protection. Apply to clean, slightly damp skin and allow to absorb fully before moving to the next step. A little goes a long way with concentrated boosters.

03

Moisturise

Seal in your serum and reinforce the skin's moisture barrier with a good day cream or hydration gel. For oily or combination skin, a gel texture absorbs without adding shine. For drier skin types, a richer cream delivers the lipid replenishment your barrier needs through the day.

04

Eye care — optional but recommended

The skin around the eyes is the thinnest on the face and shows tiredness, dehydration and the first signs of ageing faster than anywhere else. A dedicated eye cream applied with gentle tapping (not rubbing) makes a noticeable difference over time.

Don't forget SPF. The P-11 guide strongly recommends finishing your morning routine with a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher — every single day, regardless of weather. UV exposure causes up to 80% of visible skin ageing and is the number one preventable cause of hyperpigmentation. Add an SPF from our wider collection to complete your morning protection.

The Evening Routine — Repair, Renew, Restore

Night is when your skin does most of its repair work. Cell turnover accelerates, collagen synthesis increases, and hydration is processed more efficiently. Your evening routine should lean into this biology — using actives that drive real change while your skin is in its most receptive state.

PM

Evening Routine — 5 Steps

01

First cleanse — remove everything

Start with an oil-based cleanser to dissolve SPF, makeup, and the day's environmental build-up. Oil cleansers are highly effective at lifting these without disturbing the skin barrier. This is your first cleanse — it doesn't need to be squeaky clean yet.

02

Second cleanse — water-based

Follow with a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining residue and prepare skin for your actives. This ensures your serums and treatments absorb properly and aren't competing with a layer of oil or SPF on the surface.

03

Exfoliate — 2–3 times per week

Don't exfoliate every night — two to three times per week is optimal for most skin types. An AHA exfoliant (glycolic or lactic acid) removes dead skin cells, improves texture, fades pigmentation, and helps all your subsequent products absorb better. Skip on nights you use retinol.

04

Active treatment serum

This is your most important step. Evening is the right time for your most powerful actives — peptide serums to firm and rebuild, retinol alternatives to stimulate renewal, pigment serums for dark spots, or clarifying treatments for acne. Apply to clean skin and allow to fully absorb.

05

Moisturise and seal

Lock in your treatments with a nourishing moisturiser or facial oil. Facial oils are particularly effective in the evening — they create a protective occlusive layer that prevents transepidermal water loss overnight, leaving skin notably more supple by morning.

Key Ingredients — What They Do and Where to Find Them

Understanding what's actually in your products is the single most empowering thing you can do for your skincare routine. Here are the actives that matter most in 2026 — what they do, who they're best for, and which P-11 products deliver them.

Ingredient
What it does & who it's for
Find it in
Peptides
Signal the skin to produce more collagen and elastin. Firm fine lines, improve skin density, and support long-term elasticity. Suitable for all skin types from the mid-twenties onwards. Evening use recommended.
Hyaluronic Acid
Draws and holds water in the skin — up to 1,000 times its own weight in moisture. Plumps fine lines, improves elasticity and gives a dewy, hydrated appearance. Works for all skin types including oily.
Glycolic & Lactic Acid (AHA)
Chemical exfoliants that dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells, revealing smoother, brighter skin beneath. Improve texture, fade pigmentation, and enhance absorption of subsequent products. Use 2–3x weekly.
Caffeine
Vasoconstrictor that reduces puffiness and dark circles by constricting blood vessels under the skin. Antioxidant properties also protect against UV-related free radical damage. Ideal for morning use around the eye area.
Ginkgo Biloba
Powerful antioxidant that neutralises free radicals and reduces oxidative stress. Improves microcirculation for a more radiant complexion. Particularly effective for dull, fatigued skin that lacks luminosity.
Vitamin C / Brighteners
Interrupts melanin production to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Evens skin tone over time and protects against UV-triggered pigmentation. Most effective when used consistently for 8+ weeks.
Retinol Alternatives
Stimulate cell turnover and collagen production with less irritation than traditional retinol. Improve texture, fine lines and skin renewal. Ideal for sensitive skin types that can't tolerate prescription-strength retinoids.
Clarifying Agents (Salicylic Acid)
Oil-soluble exfoliant that penetrates inside pores to remove congestion and reduce acne-causing bacteria. Reduces inflammation and prevents future breakouts. Best for oily, acne-prone and congested skin types.
Botanical Oils (Jojoba, Rosehip)
Rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that mimic the skin's natural sebum. Lock in moisture, calm inflammation, and support barrier repair. Best used as the final step in an evening routine.
"The most effective skincare routine is the one you can actually maintain. Consistency with simple, well-chosen products will always outperform occasional use of complex ones."

Skin Concerns — Find the Right P-11 Products

Not all skin issues are the same — and not all solutions are either. Find your primary concern below and discover which P-11 products are specifically formulated to address it.

Concern

Ageing & Fine Lines

Firmness loss, fine lines, and reduced skin density are driven by slowing collagen production. Peptides, retinol alternatives, and deep hydration are the most effective counters.

Concern

Hyperpigmentation & Dark Spots

Caused by sun exposure, hormonal changes, or post-inflammatory marks from breakouts. Brightening agents, AHAs, and consistent SPF use are the most effective triple approach.

Concern

Acne & Breakouts

From occasional spots to persistent hormonal acne — the goal is to unclog pores, reduce bacteria, calm inflammation, and prevent post-acne marks from forming.

Concern

Dryness & Dehydration

Dry skin lacks oil; dehydrated skin lacks water. Both can occur at once, even in oily skin types. Layering a hydrating serum under a moisture-sealing oil or cream is the most effective approach.

Concern

Sensitivity & Redness

Reactive skin needs a barrier-first approach. Avoid fragrances, harsh actives, and over-exfoliation. Build gently with formulas designed specifically for sensitive and compromised skin.

Concern

Dullness & Uneven Texture

Skin looks flat, tired or rough. Usually caused by dead cell build-up and reduced circulation. Exfoliants and antioxidant boosters are the fastest path back to radiance.

Skincare FAQ

How do I know which skin type I have?

The easiest method is the blotting paper test: wash your face with a gentle cleanser, wait 30 minutes without applying any products, then press a piece of tissue to different areas. Oily residue across the whole face indicates oily skin; oil only in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) indicates combination skin; no oil transfer with a feeling of tightness points to dry skin. Skin that reacts easily to new products with redness or stinging is likely sensitive. If your skin feels comfortable and balanced, it's likely normal.

How long does it take to see results from P-11 skincare?

Hydration and texture improvements can often be felt within the first few uses. For more targeted results — reducing hyperpigmentation, improving firmness, fading acne marks — allow 6 to 12 weeks of consistent daily use. The skin's full cell turnover cycle takes approximately 28 days, so results compound over time. Consistency is the single most important factor in skincare results.

Can I use a peptide serum with an AHA exfoliant?

Yes, but not at the same time. Use your P-11 AHA Peeling Concentrate in the evening on nights you're not using your Peptide Serum — typically two to three times per week. On other evenings, apply the Peptide Serum as your active treatment. This approach gives you the benefits of both without any potential irritation from layering acidic and peptide-based products simultaneously.

Are all P-11 products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Every single product in the P-11 range is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. No animal-derived ingredients are used and no animal testing is conducted at any stage. This is a core principle at P-Eleven — not an add-on. It applies to every product in the P-11 skin, body and candle ranges.

Which P-11 products are best for beginners?

If you're new to skincare, start with three essentials: a cleanser (Cleansing Foam for most skin types, Oil-To-Milk Cleanser for sensitive skin), a moisturiser (Moisturising Day Cream or Double Hydration Boost Gel), and one targeted serum based on your primary concern. Alternatively, one of our Collection Boxes provides a pre-curated routine at excellent value. Add actives gradually rather than all at once.

What's the difference between the Nourishing and Calming Facial Oils?

Both are excellent evening moisturisers, but with different priorities. The Nourishing Facial Oil is formulated for dry skin that needs deep replenishment — rich in fatty acids that restore lipid content to thirsty, depleted skin. The Calming Facial Oil is specifically designed for sensitive and reactive skin prone to redness — its botanical blend focuses on anti-inflammatory and soothing actives. If your skin is both dry and sensitive, the Calming Facial Oil is the safer starting point.
